White Desert Foundation

IMPACT AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD

For over 20 years, White Desert has operated in Antarctica with an unmatched commitment to minimal environmental impact. The White Desert Foundation builds on this experience to tackle climate change through pioneering science, restoration projects, and global education. By leveraging our unique access to the Antarctic interior, we support researchers studying the planet’s climate and drive initiatives that reduce carbon emissions while restoring fragile ecosystems. Your support enables us to turn innovation into action, protecting some of the world’s most vulnerable environments. Our work focuses on three core areas: 1. We provide logistical and operational support to scientists in Antarctica, helping to unlock critical insights into the changing polar environment and its global impacts. 2. We invest in Blue Carbon projects that restore marine habitats such as seagrass meadows, which can sequester carbon up to 35 times more effectively than rainforests, boosting nature’s role in combating climate change. 3. We transform cutting-edge research into educational programs, inspiring individuals and communities worldwide to act for the planet and understand Antarctica’s vital role in the Earth’s climate system. "More than 50 countries support research projects on Antarctica, yet many climate scientists that aren’t backed by national programs lack the hefty funds to get here. That’s where White Desert Foundation steps in. Their grants provide transportation and logistical support for critical Antarctic research, like studying the thousands of meteorites found here." – Stephanie Vermillion, Travel + Leisure
